The 3 Great Houses
At Brookhurst International Schools, every student belongs to something greater than
themselves.
Our three Houses – Oak, Cedar and Willow – bring together students from different year groups, backgrounds and talents into smaller communities within the wider Brookhurst family. Through academics, sport, the arts, service, leadership and House competitions, students learn to contribute, encourage others, compete with integrity and celebrate success together.
The Houses are different in character, but united in purpose: developing confident, compassionate and courageous young people who understand that individual excellence becomes even more meaningful when it contributes to the success of others.

The oak tree is renowned for its strength, endurance and deep roots. Oak House represents the strength of character that enables a Brookhurst student to stand firm in their values, remain determined through difficulty and take responsibility for their choices.
Members of Oak are ncouraged to understand that strength is not simply about being the strongest or the loudest. True strength is demonstrated through self-discipline, integrity, resilience and the courage to do what is right, particularly when doing so is difficult. Oak students are challenged to persevere when faced with setbacks, to remain dependable to their teammates and to become people upon whom others can rely.Within the House, older students are encouraged to lead by example and support younger members, creating a culture in which strength around us.

Cedar HouseLeadership Through Purpose

The cedar is a tree associated with stature, endurance and distinction. Cedar House represents purposeful leadership - the confidence to step forward, the determination to pursue excellence and the humility to use one's abilities in service of others.
Cedar students are encouraged to be ambitious without losing humility. They learn that leadership is not defined by a badge or title, but by initiative, example and positive influence. Whether representing Brookhurst on the sports field, performing on stage, tackling an academic challenge or helping another student, members of Cedar are encouraged to give their very best. The red ochre of Cedar reflects energy, courage and determination - the willingness to participate fully in school life and pursue goals with conviction. Cedar therefore challenges every member to ask not only, "What can I achieve?" but also, "How can my actions inspire others?"The Cedar Spirit: Lead with Purpose. Strive for Excellence. Willow HouseGrowth Through Community

The willow is known for its remarkable ability to bend without breaking and to continue growing in changing conditions. Willow House represents adaptability, wisdom and the strength that comes from supporting one another.
Members of Willow learn that success does not always come from standing alone. Sometimes our greatest strength comes from our ability to listen, collaborate, adapt and lift others.
Willow students are encouraged to approach others with empathy, welcome new members into the Brookhurst family and recognize the different talents that every student brings to the community.
Gold represents warmth, optimism and aspiration. It reflects a House that celebrates achievement while recognizing the contribution of everyone who helped make that achievement possible. Willow teaches students that kindness and ambition are not opposites. A student can pursue excellence while remaining compassionate, generous and supportive of others.
