Brookhurst International School Lavington Campus is a candidate school International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). The school is pursuing authorisation as an IB World school. These are schools that share a common philosophy- a commitment to high quality, challenging international education that Brookhurst International School believes is important for our students.

Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme, or the Career-related Programme (CP). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.

It is with great pride and excitement that we introduce the International Baccalaureate Diploma
Programme (IBDP) to Brookhurst International Schools. This marks a significant milestone in our

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a prestigious two-year pre-
university qualification recognized by leading universities worldwide. At Brookhurst International
Schools, the IBDP is designed to develop well-rounded, globally minded learners who excel
academically while growing as principled, compassionate leaders.

Who Is It For?

  • Students aged 16–19 who are ready for an academically rigorous and holistic education.
  • Learners who want to keep multiple university and career pathways open while
    building global perspectives.
  • Students aiming for admission to top universities across the world, including the UK, US,
    Canada, Europe, and beyond.

Entry Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 IGCSE passes at grade C/4 and above, including Mathematics and English.
  • At least grade B/5–6 in subjects the student wishes to take at Higher Level (HL).
  • Strong academic record and willingness to engage in independent learning, research, and
    extracurricular activities.
  • Interview will be required to assess readiness for the rigor of the programme.

The Structure of the IBDP Curriculum

The IBDP combines breadth, depth, and personal growth, requiring students to study across
disciplines while engaging with unique core components.
Subject Groups (students choose 6, 3 at Higher Level and 3 at Standard Level):

  1. Studies in Language & Literature
  2. Language Acquisition
  3. Individuals & Societies
  4. Sciences
  5. Mathematics
  6. The Arts (or an additional subject from Groups 1–5)

The Core:

  • Theory of Knowledge (TOK): Reflecting on the nature of knowledge and critical thinking.
  • Extended Essay (EE): A 4,000-word independent research project.
  • Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS): Hands-on experiences that promote balance, creativity,
    and social responsibility.

Assessment

  • A mix of internal assessments (essays, projects, oral work) and external examinations.
  • Students earn up to 45 points (42 from subjects + 3 from TOK & EE).
  • The diploma is awarded with a minimum of 24 points, meeting subject and core
    requirements.
